just chatted with a representative:
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): Hi Robert Kaplarczuk,
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): Thank you for contacting Monoprice Tech Support.
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): My name is Lacey H.. Give me a moment while I review your question.
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): How are you doing today Robert Kaplarczuk?
Robert Kaplarczuk: very good I'm going to be purchasing the new iMacs and had a question about the HDMI converter
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): Alright, how can I help you with that?
Robert Kaplarczuk: it says that it goes in the mini display port which the new iMacs have
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): Correct
Robert Kaplarczuk: however at the botom of the page it also says thunderbolt compatible which the iMacs also have
Robert Kaplarczuk: how is it t
Robert Kaplarczuk: hunderbolt compatible
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): Correct
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): it it FULLY thunderbolt compatible
Robert Kaplarczuk: so it can be connected to the thunderbolt port as well?
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): Yes, the thunderbolt port is a mini displayport, basically an upgraded mini displayport port
Robert Kaplarczuk: ok thank you\
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): Is there anything else I can help you with today?
Robert Kaplarczuk: so basically any mini display port wire ordevice can be used in a thunderbolt
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): Yes, thunderbolt is fully backwards compatible, however that does not mean it will give your devices thunderbolt compatibility if they have the previous displayport version.
Robert Kaplarczuk: thank you
Question guys:
What she mean by previous display port version? Does her explanation mean that certain devices do not have to have Thunderbolt ports only mini display ports to plug ihnto the thunderbolt port?

you could always do what I did and buy a cheap off-contract phone that requires the data plan, then wait it out to see what the iPhone 5 adds to the table.
I bought a Palm Pixi Plus for $60 off of Newegg, it got me the unlimited data plan, plus they threw in a complimentary 5GB tethering option as well since that was also included with the Pixi Plus, due to the mobile hotspot feature, when they actually still carried the phone. They couldn't answer for sure when I asked if the tethering would transfer if I upgraded down the line, but they assured me the unlimited data would. Also, by getting the off contract phone it left my previous upgrades (I've still got 2 accrued since I haven't used an upgrade in 4 years) intact for use on the iPhone 5, or other phone if I so choose.

mac mini's are cheaper and faster than mini ITX pc's so they have taken over their market, a G4 obliterates a VIA cpu.

Oh, well, probably just overload.

If you plan on keeping your computer for as long as possible always get the best you can afford.
To answer your questions:
1) Based on your uses get the I7. More and more applications will use multithreading so the I7 will be a monster.
2) I dont think paying the extra for 2GB RAM is worth it as the card may not use all of it. Thats my personal opinion.

That vid card, is that a specific Mac card? Also ram must be installed in equal pairs.
Can't really think of much else. Are you getting a white screen with apple logo at all or just nothing?

Hello everybody.
I have a question about putting the bottom case (plate) back.
Is there a special (or recommended) order to put the screws in to ensure that the bottom case is properly aligned? To avoid wobbling, creaking etc.
Maybe there is some kind of a "service manual" for the Air 2010? (there used to be one for the original Air).

Hi,
I have an ftp upload problem. Ive had it ever since I bought my first mac, a powerbook, a year ago. I first trying using several free ftp programs (+ Transmit), but everytime i would upload a file to a folder it would just freeze immediately. so i went and bought Cute FTP Mac cause the demo rid this problem, but not entirely. It freezes immediately, but when I close connection and connect again, everything works. So now i have gotten into the habit of 'uploading, it freezing, me closing and re-opening the connection', and then it working. This is a really long and annoying way to go about things. Anybody have a clue as to what is going on?
