I was reading into OSX lion and apple states this:
''Multi-Touch gestures make everything you do on iPad easy and intuitive. Now a richer Multi-Touch experience comes to the Mac. Enjoy more fluid and realistic gesture responses, including rubber-band scrolling, page and image zoom, and full-screen swiping. In Mac OS X Lion, every swipe, pinch, and scroll looks and feels more responsive and lifelike.''
So how does this differ from the current use of the trackpads for macbooks? they can already swipe, pinch, scroll and zoom. So how is this different? Is it just more fluid and sensitive? Or am I looking at an awesome upgrade to the mac trackpad? (which is already far superior to a mouse!!)

So now I'm pissed. I used to work on papers at home and save them on my iDisk and access them for further editing and printing at school. But I can't access my iDisk from the PC's (they have network drive mapping locked up). Plus I'm just angry in general about them getting rid of all the Macs.
You should be able to access your files (and you can password protect it too) from you .Mac homepage... still stinks you can't map to a network drive (and that the iMac's are stowed away)... but that should work for ya.

Are they going to wait until they have a $100 billion cash stockpile before giving a dividend?
Growth stocks don't generally pay dividends. Dividend paying stocks are a safety move, trading dividends for share price growth, and are meant to attract investors. Apple doesn't need to do that.
Be happy with the insane growth.

Most likely it's the LocalConnection (http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_16243) stuff. (I notice that the keyboard seems to act a little goofy in their example, try pasting text)

This will be great with a Mac Mini and once they get a final release. I hope, if this reaches a good enough release stage, that perhaps Apple could sell it on their website or whatever.

Bad, bad, BAD! In my opinion, the iPhone has never had a significant upgrade/redesign. iPhone 1 through to 4 have just been bumps from the last.
If this is true I really think it's bad news for Apple. It's as if they had a great idea with the iPhone/iOS but can't really come up with any other great ideas. All they can do is add a few megapixels to the camera, stuff GPS into it, make it a bit thinner etc.
I'm really beginning to wonder if Apple is a bit of a one trick pony.

Who's going to buy this 'technology'?
Creative for one. Mobile phone manufacturers too. Basically, anyone that wants to advertise their equipment as iTunes compatible.
And hokka, there is already precedent for this legally. Compaq reverse engineered the IBM BIOS back in the early 80s and kickstarted the IBM-compatible computer industry. They were able to prove that they hadn't hacked the BIOS, just got one team of people to find out exactly what it did and write a spec, then passed the spec to another completely different team who made a compatible chip from it. Providing Jon has also taken this approach, Apple will have a tough time winning the case.

Thank you for your help on this. Unfortunately, it was empty - and did not work. Might you have any other suggestions?

Right now in the iPad forum every other thread is another "what do you want to see in iPad 2?" thread.
Report them and suggest they be merged into each other. This method has been done several times ("I'm waiting for Arrandale"- ugh) with success.

Congrats on the iBook purchase, I had one a while back and their great machines for what they can do.
In regards to your queries, Flash 10.1 is the latest that can run on PowerPC machines :( and HTML5 is supported in TenFourFox as far as I know, by default. Did you download the appropriate TenFourFox build for your G4?
What specifications is the iBook G4? Is it running Tiger or Leopard?
What "jumpy" flash issues are you experiencing? I use it on my G5 and flash ad's can be abit iffy at times, though never exhibited any youtube issues.

The estate tax is a tax on the transfer of money from the estate of someone who died and their heirs. It is collected at the estate level for simplicity and to avoid requiring multiple heirs filing tax returns on the receipt of money.
That is NOT the accumulation of wealth that is being taxed, but the transfer.
So, since you were wrong there, care to try again?
(edit) Just so you don't think I'm being mean, there are some taxes on assets, namely real estate and in some states ad velorem taxes (but I'm not too familiar with that particular tax as it is not in my state).
Here's all you need to know Mcrain... a hardened weathered old-time farmer works his entire life, pours his blood sweat and tears into paying off his family farm, paying income tax on every cent he earned and property taxes on every square foot of land every single year... yet when he passes away and per his request, his farm passes to his only son, the government decides that they didn't bleed enough out of him. Before his son can have the farm, he must first sell off half of it to the highest bidder in order to pay off the tax man ONE MORE TIME.
It's a tax on accumulated (and previously taxed) income... period.

...In 2009 the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation gave $3.653 Billion to some of the most important charitable causes around the globe. They're known around the world as one of the most highly selective, efficient, and effective charitable organizations. Is it your position that our federal government would more efficiently/effectively utilize this money?
Actually, it'd be about the same. I base this on the fact that the company I work for, which is a for-profit / non-profit international development company (almost all international development companies have both for- and non- profit arms) receives funding from both USAID and the Gates Foundation. I think it's fairly obvious that we're roughly equally effective at implementing projects from different sources of funding; we're the same company with the same staff on either projects. Of course, Gates rules and USAID rules differ a little in terms of what we have to do with that money, but they're not all that different in the end.
And that's what most of development money goes to in the end: companies (or organizations) that implement projects. The companies and organizations are the same regardless of where the funding comes from.

Yep. I agree. And if you've used Android lately on a phone, you'd say iPhone what?!?! Apple still has the more solid tablet but Android OS will have that market by summertime as well.
Don't bother flaming, it's well documented in the sales figures that Android has taken the #1 spot in the Phone OS model... my only point is Apple is at a critical turning point in their history. They can give customers what they want, or restrict. Customers don't like to be restricted, and like me, seek alternatives when cornered.
Could be wrong but apple have the iPhone, iPod, iPad vs android os which is in basically every new manufacture phone, motorola, htc, samsung, lg, etc... each having at least 5 phones with the os....only thing those number proves is that there's a Lot of android os out there............and most people use them because of the price...doesnt tmobile have some free android phones they give out when you sign up with a new contract....? In conclusion everybody and their mothers put android os in their newly made phones/tablet vs apples few iOS line.....

For an online store, I use eShox, it has everything built right into it and you can even change the themes to make your own store design. As for web hosts, I can host it for you if you would like and I can work with you to help others get online.

This is just out today. HTC Thunderbolt outsold iPhone at Verizon. There's goes your cute little theory.
Make no mistake, this is an amazing quarter for Apple, but it's not the only one doing well in the smartphone boon.
You quoted a BGR story on a sourceless report from ITG, good show. I can throw up a blog and claim just the opposite if it makes you feel better.
The iPhone was the #1 selling phone (not smart phone) in 2010. You are getting excited that in its launch month a brand new phone might have outsold one that is almost a year old?

Treo 650 has a low call volume. So? It's not a flaw that's specific to all mobile phones. My friend's phone is too loud!
And UI improvements. Well........Sony Ericsson is definitely king of mobile phone UI right now, Motorola being the absolute worst. I don't know what else Apple can do. I actually have an idea for how get 2 or 3 types of buttons on the front face of the phone without making it a slider phone, but that's really the only idea I'd like implemented that will change the UI. Otherwise, what you'll be getting is a UI from Apple that's similar to what you use now, maybe touch screen (gimmicky).
You know some of sony's phones are using Symbian OS, the same OS in most of Nokia's N and E series. I don't think touch screen is gimmicky at all it has some use but then again most of the phones with touch screen are some form of a smartphone, like the Treo, Sony 900 series, HTC phones and so on.
I had the Treo 650 sounds was fine nothing I would complain about. But then again there is a software called volumecare that took care of the low volume. And Motorola actually has a good interface but it is on their hard to get and pricey V3X.
