I just bought a western digital for the exact computer you are talking about and it's working just fine. I thnk it was $60. at best buy. It's 320gigs.
I mentioned this in another thread, but I did the same thing.
Got a WD 7200rpm 320GB for about $60 on NewEgg. It's very easy to replace the drive.

Just to follow up...
I was able to get close to what I was looking for by reducing the contrast considerably (like -0.5), and then applying a levels adjustment. (Curves worked well, too, at that point.)
I still wound up with some color shifting towards magenta as seen in the middle photo above, but on far far fewer pixels.

I used iStudiez Pro but I am tired of it.
I am looking for something new, as well.
Does Things sync over the cloud? Like will it sync using my 3G? or My MBP and iPhone have to be on the same wifi network?

About the only place it says AT&T is with the signal strength for what network your receiving. If your not using cell data and turn it off, it says iPad. In other words, besides the Apple Logo, the iPad is unbranded (no cell phone provider markings on any of its shiny parts).
Excellent - Thanks...I would not like to see any network provider name engraved on the iPad!

iPhoneExplorer is kinda buggy for me on a Mac. It was really buggy on Win7 machine but I hear it works pretty well on WinXP
iFunBox works real well on Windows and that's what I use on Win7.
Nope. I have xp and I am playing with explorer and iPhone browser. Both crash or don't do what I want. I'll try the other programs.
Update: Just used ifunbox and it was great

I've read a bit about pageouts and RAM/OSX performance on MacRumors, but what I haven't been able to determine is how many pageouts are too many?
For the last 3 hours, I have been using a Dual 1.8 with 1.5GB RAM and have had the following pageins/pageouts according to Activity Monitor: 28883/1184.
Is this an indication that I need more RAM? Is there some type of rule or formula to determine how much I need based on the number of these pageouts?

Unfortunately there aren't any docking stations for the macbook air, infact the only docking station for any mac laptop is a port replicator for the MBP. I beileve that there is a stand somewhere, but I personally don't see the need, hopefully thunderbolt will bring some interesting options. That is if its included in the next MBA.
Thanks for information.

Are you viewing that jpg in PS? I tried this with the same font in ID and PS CS3 and didn't have the reported effect on screen. My monitor is a 23in Samsung HD panel. What monitor are you using?

I don't really know much about projectors, but I suppose you could create a semipermanent mounting (such as running cables through a hole under a table).
Or you could buy two projectors (one mounted, one travelling) with good resolution for the cost of this extremely expensive one.

does that mean the windows partition is still active in some way?
The boot loader is still looking for it. There's an entry (IIRC in the nvram) that tells it which partition on which disk it is expected to use as the default startup disk. In your case it was still pointing at the Windows partition for some reason.

The problem is that I have an identical macbook pro that needs the same set up, so I ghosted the disk, and restored the ghost image to the second machine.
You may need to do a clean install of Windows in the bootcamp partition. Just as an aside, you won't be able to run Windows for more than 30 days unless you have a separate license for the 2nd machine (i.e. - you won't be able to register both installs with MS, using the same license).

Just buy an adaptor? Fairly sure if you search iPhone 2G Headphone adapter or similar you will find one, just makes it fit.

I disagree- the Incase Slider for the iPod Touch 4th Gen is the best case for the iPod. It costs about $34.95, just a few dollars above your price range but it'll definitely protect your iPod from drops at a reasonable height.
I've had this case for a while now, and recently, while I was untangling my headphone cables, I accidentally dropped my iPod and it fell about four feet on to the cold, hard street pavement.
I thought I had broken my iPod, but it didn't even have a scratch on it! The case wasn't cracked either- it just had a little scuff mark that only showed when directly in light. This case also has a bit of a lip so it raises the screen a bit so if it hits a surface, the screen won't make contact.
Here are a few photos of the case:

Hey Kumi, I panicked too the first time I saw that feature (which has both the ability to be extremely useful or terribly damaging haha).
The solution is quite simple really, you just have to scroll to the top of the contact's conversation from which you want to delete the pics, choose 'Edit', and then 'Clear All'. This will delete ALL your conversation history with that contact from the WhatsApp servers, so if there's any special memento (ahem...) you wish to save, make sure to email yourself the chat history first (Settings -> Email chat history).
Hope this info helps!

Anybody cracking RC5 on their Mac? The new Mac OS X client for nVidia CUDA-enabled cards is supposed to be really good...people are getting as much as 50x faster speeds when using the CUDA-enabled GPU to crack keys.
I participated in the RC5-64 challenge, and I've been doing a bit of cracking on the RC5-72 challenge now. RSA is not sponsoring the contest anymore, but distributed.net is still giving $1000 to the winner.

Whether it would work (for a time) is a secondary question. Do you want your machine
to run hotter than it needs to? No.

Evening all,
I was messing around with logic on my MBP today, and my son (6, nearly 7) was well into it, and soon took over playing around and adding in instruments/loops/effects and loving it.
In his room we have an old iMac G3, with a whopping 400MhZ processor and 512MB of RAM. Anyone got any recommendations for something similar that'll run on his machine? I know it's lacking the horsepower for a lot of the fancier effects, but once upon a time a 400Mhz G3 was cutting edge!
The iMac is running 10.4, and classic, but I have the OS9 CD if running that natively will open up more options. I think I read somewhere that it was possible to trick garageband 1 into running, but not that quickly. I could rig up an external firewire drive if that's likely to make things any more useable.
Cheers for any input.
Mike
I have the original discs for that iMac g3 machine, and I have iLife 04 that I could sell you on CD. You also should look into maxing out ram and upgrading hard drive to either an 80gb 7200 rpm IDE/PATA hd or a 120gb. (That mac won't recognize more than 128gbs, but maxing out ram/hd will really speed it up.)

As long as you are ok with Leopard, and running older versions of software, then it sounds like an ok deal to me as intel macs will be more money. I believe the highest a G5 can go is 10.5.8 as they cannot run Snow Leopard, and I think they can only run iLife 09 and not the latest version.

I just got an iPod, and when I connected it to my Mac, I allowed it to automatically sync. I have not created any playlists in iTunes, so the default ones were "90s Music", etc. I noticed that now my iPod Shuffle has all of the default playlists, the Music folder from my library, and the Purchased folder. I went ahead and deleted the default playlists from iTunes because I don't use playlists, and it was taken off the iPod. But both "Music" and "Purchased" folders are still on the iPod with the same songs (I have not ripped anything into iTunes). Is there any need for these two folders? Should I delete one or the other? How come the Music folder in the library will not let me drag songs where I want them?

What templates are you referring to? If you mean in the iLife or iWork apps, yes, those are all royalty free for commercial or personal use. However, things like the desktop pictures, etc, are not. Be a little more specific and maybe we can tell you for sure.
