Hey everyone,
Getting very excited about launch day tomorrow! Anyone planning on lining up at the Apple Store in Boca Raton Town Center Mall. If so, can you please post with your time of planned arrival?

In your processDigit method you set currentNumber to currentNumber * 10 + digit . I don't see where you set currentNumber's value.
By The Way, this sould be in the IOS programming section, you might get more help there... ;)

Why are they G3, G4, and G5 instead of 750, 7400 and 970?

Sysops are commonly used to patrol all the edits to make sure that bad content doesn't creep in - reverting edits back to where they were if an edit was bogus. (They use that "Mark edit as Patrolled" link)
^^^
Good idea.
Whould also be nice if people were consistant about putting a little bit of text in the summary, at least, when doing Major edits.

OK, question . . .
I'm looking to get a 27" iMac. The "older" models are on sale and come equipped with a video card with twice as much ram. So I'm wondering, which of these will "appear" to be faster?
2.8GHz Core i5 Quad-Core
4GB (2x2GB) RAM
1TB 7200rpm Hard Drive
ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB Graphics
2.7GHz Intel Core i5 Quad-Core
4GB (2x2GB) RAM
1TB 7200rpm Hard Drive
AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512MB GPU
I do mostly Photoshop work, compositing very LARGE files files. Am I going to notice any difference in performance between these two?
Thanks in advance.

Stick with XP for the Windows version. It was enough of a pain to get it to run under Vista.
Otherwise, I only do GPU folding. 10,000 ppd is hard to beat.

I do not see why it should not work. CS3 works without problems under SL, so we can expect that CS4 works under Lion. However, make sure that you do not use incompatible third party plugins!
when sl came out, cs3 was having many issues with it such as loading files and crashing.
My CS5 Master works just fine.
cs5 is a much more recent package, and cs4 isn't really supported anymore. that's the main reason i'm asking.

Thanks for testing iWork Pages to see whether you experience the same problem.
The lag is intermittent. It works fine most of the time, but some times it just lags and frustratingly it happens when I'm taking notes.

Hey guys
I have 2 Western Digital NAS drives attached to an Airport Extreme and shared via AFP.
The AE connects to a Powerline system and is picked up in another room by my Mac Mini.
Everything was working fine until I bought my new AE.
Now i can only see the drives on my Mac Pro (connected by ethernet to AE) and not the Mac Mini. The Mac Mini can browse the web so there's no connection problem between the AE and the mini.
Are there some settings on the AE i need to change??
Help would be greatly appreciated!
How long ago did you swap the airport extreme out? If it's very recently you may need to release/renew the computers and NAS dhcp information, there may be a bad/old setting from the previous device causing a conflict. Restarting the machines usually forces this, but not always.
I would give that a shot and get back to us. If it doesn't work there are a few other potential fixes.

I read something about how it's impossible to upload to your computer unless you have a 3.0GHZ processor or better?
Most consumer cameras use AVCHD to encode their footage, which is a highly compressive codec, thus the CPU needs more power to decode the video.
But if you want to edit the footage, you should transcode the video to an editing format anyway, iMovie and FCE/P will do that for you. After that process, the CPU is hardly used during playback.
Other than that, I don't have any recommendation for a consumer camcorder.

Hey guys,
I'm sure there are other topics about this but I've been searching all night and nobody else seems to have the same symptoms.
My MacBook earlier today was working fine, and I left the room. When I came back, it was off. So I restarted, and it went to the white screen with the folder and question mark.
Now, it only restarts to the white screen (right past the sound).
Resetting pram/nvram didn't help, and trying to boot from either a DVD or USB doesn't work. When I hold option down, I get a cursor (which is moveable), but absolutely nothing else.
I tried replacing the hard drive with another one I had, and it does the exact same thing. Plus, I've never heard clicking - and it still isn't clicking.
I wanted to replace the ram, but my ram is incompatible so I can't.
Any ideas what may be causing this? My gut says it's a logic board failure, but that'd be a shame since it's only 16 months old.
Any ideas!? Thank you!

I do want to do the job properly, hence me starting this thread. I am inquiring about which calibration kit works best. I have used the i1 display 2 and it seems to me to automatically calibrate. I was wondering if this is right. I am using the icc profiles for my epson 4900 and the epson media I am using but also want to get my screen correctly profiled in my workflow.
thanks

I haven't got a new shuffle, so maybe playlists are important on that particular device, but it sounds to me as if you are worrying too much about playlists if you don't use them. My advice to you is to just ignore them.
It isn't clear from your post whether you are aware, but the songs are only actually in your iPod once, even if they show up in multiple playlists. If you would like to play your music by album, artist or just random the do so from those menus and just ignore playlists.
Of course, if the shuffle is reliant on playlists then I'm sure that someone will correct me.

I have about 10 to 15 miniDv tapes full of concerts I shot about 13 years ago. I've tried to capture a few of them, but I keep running into timecode breaks on the tapes, and Final Cut Pro stops the capture which is irritating. I just want to capture the tapes in their entirety, I don't need proper time code for editing. On the system settings menu, I changed the one setting to "Warn after capture" if there is a time code break, but it still happens. Is there a better program to use for straight capturing, or perhaps some settings I need to change?

I tried an SMC reset, but i still had one afterwards.
Are you running anything CPU/GPU intensive, that could drive your temps high enough to cause a shutdown? If not, I'd take it back and have them check it out.

The current 1.1.2 firmware cannot be downgraded or unlocked... You would have to find one that was not shipped with 1.1.2.

I just read the lyrics and avoided listening to the song.
It might make a great eulogy when one goes to buy their first Mactel. :D

I ordered mine the day after the hardware was announced and yesterday I was told by my online retailer that they would start shipping the first or second week in Oct. after a delay was announced by Apple. I dream of the man/woman in brown knocking at the door.

Action adventure. More like Max Payne x Silent Hill hybrid.
Sounds cool :)
The story will keep you playing, but the ending is typical of the genre. Left wide open for a sequel.
Yeah, I can imagine. Stuff like that happens a lot in films as well. Cliff-hanging ending almost.
