The iPhone 4 is already dated relative to other phones on the market. To have a phone on the market for 18 months without an update is insane.

I just hope Apple doesn't wait until Paris Expo to announce it. Then we're talking 2+ months.
I'm sure HP, Dell, Apple and the rest of the computer makers out there will have Merom laptops available as soon as they receive the chips from Intel.

How would one do a "complete fresh reinstall" by this method? Or will we be able to burn to a disc/USB key?
I'm wondering the same thing.
Personally, I'd rather not risk eating up my AT&T crappy bandwidth limit and would love to be able to pickup a USB-key in the store. It would also be necessary to have for fresh installs.

doubtful, this is a key switcher market... it would be crazy to axe the very thing that will continue to switch the PC builders/gamers over the next 5 years... this is a key ingredient to apple taking the industry over with time.

Only for those with a lack of understanding of basic math. Again, the problem is not the equation per say, it's the people that don't understand mathematics.
Nobody uses / when writing down by hand (they do when programming on a computer- fine), or at least they shouldn't. It doesn't matter if / has a strict definition if it is not strictly enforced. I did a chemistry degree, and that obviously involves maths. Yet, if someone had emailed by an equation like this I would have asked for clarification, because I know they are thinking in terms of two lines (using ______).
I'd say it is an assumption to presume that / literally means / in this case. The most likely scenario is it is only being used because this is a forum, in writing (or in proper software like LaTex) it would be written on two lines. The most logical answer is 288; however, I can't say what the original author intended.

Cry me a river if you're using Yonah. Unless you need 64-bit or are encoding video/audio 24/7 on your laptop the gains aren't paramount.

From what i'm reading you won't be able to take full advantage of the processing power til santa rosa comes out (early 2007). And at that point it will use more power reducing the hight bat. life expectations. And the low voltage chips aren't due out til that time too. So after reading this, i say if you really want a good merom working computer, get one in jan. Or forget the wait and get one now. But sept doesn't look like a good time to buy then.

I doubt a download service would be able to offer unlimited movie downloads, at least not for a price next to netflix. Netflix "unlimited" movies really aren't because they are limited by the speed of the post office (and artificially limited even more by Netflix if you watch too many).
Except that under NetFlix, theortically (and I know people do this) you could get the DVDs, rip them, and send them back same day. Under a d/l scheme, you can only view the movies with a license. You only get, say 3 licenses. So you'd have to physically watch the movie, if you wanted to see it, before getting more. That would act as a brake on how many d/ls an avg. customer would make a month because most people only have time to watch 2-5 DVDs a month...if that. As for those who abuse the system, nothing to stop Apple from cutting people off just like Netflix does.

I don't believe the iPad 3 is coming out this year. However, I'm curious what Apple would do if they wanted to change the release date to a later month, say September. Theoretically, they could release a slightly improved model at a higher price point later this year, calling it a "Pro" model, while still selling the current model. Then early next year, discontinue the iPad 2 and continue to sell the Pro models at a reduced price until September 2012 when the iPad 3 is released. I'm not saying this will happen, but I just wanted to point out a possible senario if Apple wants a later release date for the iPad.

I'm still on a 3GS. If I don't get an iPhone 5 this summer, the world won't end. In fact, it will be nice to not hear my wife get in my ear about getting an iPad & an iPhone only months apart from each other.
Plus, if they delay it & get better technology in it, I can wait it out.

I believe that it used to cost money but it was mainly for business users. My guess is that now they decided to also go for the average consumer and they probably want to get people to see them and recognize their name at first. I could be completely wrong though.

I don't get the big deal about it. If you want to be anonymous, get off fb, twitter, macrumors, etc. Then cancel all Internet plans you have and your cellular plan. Then no one will ever know where you are unless you tell them.

Because it's rapidly becoming the case that EVERYTHING can be produced more cheaply in places like China and India -- even things that were previously thought to be "safe" industries (medical X-Rays are read in India / China, legal documents are authored overseas and sent back to the US to be signed) because they required and educated or advanced workforce.
So, I turn the question back to you -- how will you afford to buy an iPod when you are asked to take a substantial (50% or more) pay cut because an individual in India or China can do YOUR job more cheaply.
Globalization is a race to the bottom, and nobody seems to understand that while the 3rd world rises up, the 1st world inevitably must slide down.
And then the price of labor in those producing countries will rise. Then return to other countries. it cycled back and forth.
