I don't know where you get your statement than the "iPhone had a higher resolution than macs"
Resolution is a function of both pixel count and screen size. While there were less pixels on the iPhone screen, it had "higher resolution" in the form of higher DPI ;)
However, the person you are replying to is still wrong. I still don't think that this is a good idea. If the download version of Lion were simply a Disc Image file, then that would be fine (I could just burn my own or put it on a stick), but if it is on the App Store, then the entire OS has to be packaged as a .app file. As such, it will not be possible to do a "fresh" reformatted installation of Lion without cracking the .app bundle and burning the install data to a bootable disc.

Obviously, Apple did not learn from the PowerPC FIASCO. Too bad. Be prepared for a brave new world of 1984 closed Mac systems based on the horrible iOS. Apple is evolving. Hopefully, NOT!!! Or else millions will move to Windows. Apple decides.

As long as you can burn a DVD or USB key from it, it should be a good way of distribution. It seem a bit reckless, however, not to have a offline backup around. Sometimes even Time Machine screws up.

Only if you choose to "sync" your data in the preferences as was stated before in this thread so in fact iDisk out of the box does "not" work like Drop Box. I think WebDAV may be a speed culprit as well but if anyone knows of a blazing fast WebDAV service chime in.

If you pay for according to transfer or if there are limitations on it (tethering with some service providers etc.) you would then be better off with the "Manual" option. In any case you are always working with local files which are sitting in you local HD. Even if you have chosen "Manual" and then sync the transfer happens in the background. Anyway, you're correct that WebDAV is what really sets these apart (and not in the good way from Apple's perspective). Also I'm betting my money on low number of data centers and lack of spread (due to global variations in transfer speeds).

In its current form iDisk is far from being snappy™ but what happens when the masses start rolling in? One gigantic data center means very little in global perspective. You need wide spread of them all around the world if you want to offer free and reliable cloud services. Just looking at Google data centers in 2008 gives good idea what was required back then... I'm well aware that Google is a different kind of beast but it's a beast with good access and response.

If Apple was found to be abusing its position... yes. But this is NOT my point, my point was 'countries start to investigate Apple due to a shortage of components due to Apple buying up the available stock for a prolonged period of time'. This is very different from Apple being found guilty etc etc.

NOTHING is stopping RIM from going to the manufacturers and offering MORE money than Apple. NOTHING.
On the other side, the manufacturers cannot make enough panels to keep up with Apple (Apple's customers) demand for the panel (the iPad).

I'm glad they are sticking with the current design as I think the iP4 is by far the best looking phone on the market. That said, I'll be skipping iP5 as it's not much of an upgrade from my iP4. The faster processor is nice, but I'm content with the speed of the iP4 and I'm pretty sure IOS5 will be supported. I just don't want to take the chance of not being eligible for an upgrade when the MAJOR iphone update comes.
I waited and didn't get an iPhone 4 because of the same reason -- didn't seem like enough of an update, hated the design, etc.
Now I'm wishing I had, because my 3GS is having reception issues (can't get a 3G signal at all these days) and I do need a new phone soon. If I had bought the iP4, I'd be eligible for a new phone when 6 comes out with a real revision. If I do the iP5, I'm stuck with a dinosaur phone for 2 years as everyone else upgrades to 4G/LTE.

If I have to DL it from the App Store, I've got to download it 4 times! I don't care about paying for multiple licenses... I do care about blowing out my internet bandwidth downloading the same multi-gigabyte file 4 times.
What makes you so sure you wouldn't be able to copy the installer to your other machines? With the current app store, you don't have to re-download everything, you can copy an app over and then just have to authorize with your apple ID. Or do installs over a network (which is already possible, even wirelessly).

There will be an iPad launch this fall (not with iPods) and it will be a minor upgrade, much the same as we have with the Macbook/MBPros now. The aim is to replace the MacBooks with iPads (for the mainstream market at least) and as you know a year is a long term in computer terms. iPad 2 second release update will include NFC to be compatible with the iPhone 5 to allow for sharing and features to been seen with iOS5. The iPhone five will see summer release on schedule.

Correct. I dragged it into trash. It removed normally. I then went to the applications folder and dragged it back. All worked flawlessly.

Is a slim, slot loading, Blu-Ray drive even manufactured? I've seen a few tray loading externals and a tray loading internal, but not a slot loading Blu-Ray drive of any type.
No idea. Anandtech mentioned one on display at the CES 2006 which was back in January. I believe the timeframe for launch mentioned for release was 3Q06, which is now-ish.

I cant believe the problems which I have seen with phone companies in America. I have never had a dropped call in my life, my signal is almost always full and in Britain, almost every phone is available on all networks and sim free except for some phones on the 3 network.
Anyway I do hope that this phone comes out, my ROKR is shockingly bad and freezes every time I miss a call.
I also hope it will have 3G. The new RAZR has 3G which shows it doesnt have to be very bulky to use.

iOS is centric to iPhone and I can't really see why the sudden shift from the status quo.
The scorching success of iPhone 4 hand set is really setting the pace.
The Lion revision of OSX will probably see much more inheritance of features and the ap-verse of iOS.
In my view the real buzz for iOS 5 might be the appearance of the whole swag of new touch gestures that Apple have been working on and previewed in the recent beta.
That along with the cloud, NFC and maybe 4G.

Umm, sadly, tens of thousands of people have already died from the natural disaster alone (earthquake/tsunami) and Nuclear Power or anything "man-made" had nothing to do with it... However, the secondary hit Japan is going to take from their Nuclear problem remains to be seen.
What really is selfish is these so called environmentalists that decry oil drilling as bad for the earth and a pollutant in so many ways, that they and other activists made it EVIL to even think it and some politicians make fun of it, but yet the world's economies depend on fossil fuels in so many ways. While it may be true of oil's pollutant value, there is no mistaking that you can go in and clean up most oil spills without a geiger counter and not worry about radiation poisoning and the people would have oil to heat their homes and gas to drive their cars. Something those in the hard struck areas of Japan currently don't have. Let us not forget countless other products that have oil as a by-product in it's formation, such as (http://www.ranken-energy.com/Products%20from%20Petroleum.htm)... Let alone iPod batteries.
Wonder how the fine folks at Chernobyl are doing? Anyone here moving there soon? I'd bet you'd have better luck in Prince William Sound in Alaska.
