I have been folding since 2000, however I have yet to run F@H for long on my iMac. Reason being, CPU temps reach 85C. Is this safe for my Mac? I feel that at these temperatures I will need to take out an extended Apple Care warranty. :confused:if u feel it is unsafe, then don't do it. we would love to have your help, but if you feel it is at the expense of your machine, then your machine is more important
i only fold on machines i dont own for the same reasons you stated

I've used both the ae.tuts and lynda sites. Both are also very good.
I'd suggest starting off (perhaps for a single months membership) with Lynda - they've got some very good basic courses (with exercise files) to get the fundamentals sorted in a structured way and then you can start 'playing' with the ae.tuts site.
I've always really rated the Greyscale Gorilla (http://greyscalegorilla.com/blog/) blog by a chap called Nick - very 'real world' tuts. All free.

Might want to edit your first post then.

Just a thought, but since there has been some speculation that Jay-Z might have a record label with Apple, what do you guys think of Jay-Z being the musical guest performing at the end of the keynote tommorrow? Again, this is just a thought.

Gosh I hope not. It's less than a year old.
Well, if it's less than a year old, it should be under warranty. Better it breaks now, than at the start of Month 13...!

The "go to linear notes" would be a great feature to have in the future. Everything accessible in one, easy place.

Interesting...so is the OWC really faster as they claim?
OWC is the only real after-market choice if you want to increase the SSD size but at $550ish for 240 GB, seems rather expensive.
It is faster when I ran comparable benchmarking. But so far for real world regular usage I haven't noticed a difference. It was definitely expensive for my 240GB version, but I couldn't afford the Ultimate 13 when I placed my order so this was my only option to upgrade. You should also factor in you can sell your old SSD, a 128GB Toshiba went for nearly 200 yesterday on ebay.

no. Your minutes are still used.
No. Unless you put a price on google having all of your call/sms data.
It's a web-based pbx. You can forward calls from your gv number to another number to protect your "private" number. You can block certain callers from calling you based on predefined rules. You can send sms messages through gv over your data plan instead of your texting plan (for example, i don't have a texting plan anymore because i barely use data). These are just a few examples of how gv can work for you.
thanks! This is what i was looking for!

No, it won't. Unless you're constrained to deadlines, which it doesn't sound like at all. Get a 15" for most all-around power.

So I recently got a new HDD, did a clean install of OSX, and while I was at it, I bought Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Previous to the HDD upgrade, I was running Windows XP.
The only thing I use Windows for is Games (Bad Company 2) and Quickbooks. That's it. I thought Windows 7 would help run games smoother, but it turns out it's more choppy now and the framerate has dropped.
TL;DR: Can I install windows XP over windows 7 without a problem? Or do I need to do something else? Would I have to do a clean install of the whole OS's? Thanks in advance.

I have the USB mouse from MacMice and it is great. I do remember several users complaining about the Bluetooth one in an other forum. Try a search and you should be able to find it with no problem.

You would think that all MS employees have zunes, but many have ipods.
I don't doubt that, but do you think that someone such as Steve Ballmer or someone who is about to go into a big partnership with MS would be filming a commercial for Steve Jobs?

Hi guys...
So yeah. I have this old iMac G3 that has been sitting in my closet for years, it hasn't been used for over 5 years. So I turn it on yesterday after discovering all the old Mac games on Macintoshgarden, and it works! :D
The specs go as follows:
G3 333 mhz, 64 MB RAM, 6 GB HD, OS 9.2.2
If i buy two 128 MB sticks at OWC, will I be able to run any Mac game from 2001 and older just fine? The early early Mac OS X games built for 10.0-10.1 that are 3D but also compatible with OS 9 are the ones that scare me the most.

I dont see why they wont have FM radio on the 4G.... unless they want it to be unique to the Nano only.... but it would help compete against Zune....

So here I was, happily using my macbook that I've had for 3 years now with nary a problem, and everything was working as normal. Then it's possible that I hit some combination of keys unintentionally in trying to hit Command+T to open a new tab? I'm not sure. But the next time I went to hit F3 to use the Expose function, it didn't respond. Neither did F4 to open dashboard, and same with F1 and F2. Did I do something? Did they just spontaneously stop working? Am I missing something obvious?
Thank you for any help you can offer!

A couple of firmware updates do come through software update.
Usually they appear with the explicit warning that after installing that it will cause some kind of abnormal action.
Take the iMac G5 Rev. A Sleep light updater (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302039).
