Hi folks,
I'm in a market for an iPad 2, but I'm in a dilemma of whether I should keep my iPod touch 32GB and get an iPad 2 16GB 3G, or should go all out for a 64GB 3G and let go of my iPod.
I'm a person who loves to store everything I have on a mobile device, hence 64GB, yet I still prefer the mobility of the iPod touch. Though the inconvenience is that the iPod does not support 3G, and Wi-Fi is hard to come by when I'm traveling.
My music on my iPod occupies around 24GB and there's barely enough space for my photos. I was thinking of an iPad to store my photos instead, and I would appreciate having photos and Accordance Bible Software on the real screen estate of the iPad.
Prior to this I'm lugging around a 15" MBP for all my stuff, and frankly it's kinda cumbersome carrying a laptop to church.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Haha, well I think it's a valid concern!! I mean I would hope that Apple wouldn't do that to us, but honestly I wouldn't be too surprised.
A HUGE part of Lion is the OS doing the multitasking so we don't have to think about it. That's why apple took away the little light below the apps. There is no "open" or "close".
Although, I suppose another thing about Lion is that every state gets saved. So if a window or safari tab were to close, then hypothetically it would open back exactly how it was??
I would assume that any open windows stay open (and no safari refreshing!) but can any of you Lioners out there confirm this?
You're comparing an orange to an apple, actually more like a tiny grape to an apple.
They are both based on the same OS X core but the code is much more optimized and slimmer on the iPad with much tighter hardware restrictions.
If the iPad devices are as powerful as our computers, we would not be experiencing any issues in Safari. You're talking about just 256MB of RAM in the first-gen iPad and 512MB in second-gen iPad which are able to handle the sites in Safari much better than it does in the first-gen iPad. Add 2GB-4GB to the iPad, Mobile Safari would be able to handle 20 sites without any refreshing required.
Secondly, Apple didn't take open/close lights away, it is now an optional setting in the Systems Preferences. The reason Apple did this is because they want to remove the idea of "open"/"closed" states. The software are starting to catch up to the hardware in terms of speed that we can leave applications and return to it in the same state. Apple wants to be able to introduce the concept of *resuming* apps, not *closed*. When you restart Lion with open apps, Lion will restart with the same open apps in the same state. This is the future on Mac OS X. No more closing required, especially with a fast SSD.
The hard drive/ssd in today's computers are much faster than the NANDs in the current iPad. Resuming an app is much faster than it would be on a modern computer. Look at how fast apps are resuming from the previous state in the iPad 2 and you can see how much the hardware difference is affecting the performance.
Also, the multitasking isn't a huge part of the OS, it's actually tiny. If you remove Cocoa, all the apps/framework and the GUI, the OS is probably less than 512MB (based on the open source darwin's binary iso size).
The other thing that you need to consider is the memory swap. Mac OS X have swap, iOS doesn't. Even if you run out of free memory on the Macs, you'll begin to switch to the harddrive/ssd to use as virtual memory.

Hi, have got a problem with Outlook 2011.I had 3 rules set up, simply so that emails for memebrs of my family went into their own folders.
Now the rule names still appear in the list, but when I click on apply nothing happens and when I go to the rules dialogue box no rules are visible and I cant add any new ones.
Any help appreciated - only had an iMAc 2 months, so very new to Macs
thanks

Hey everyone, I am currently looking for a decent shock absorbent case for my iPod touch 4g. I am not 100% sure which one to get. Currently the one I am looking at is the Incipio SILICRYLIC case.
the case can be found here: http://www.myincipio.com/iPod-touch-4G-Cases-Accessories/Incipio-iPod-touch-4G-SILICRYLIC-Hard-Shell-Case-with-Silicone-Core.asp
Does anyone have any suggestions? I have looked around these forums for a while and have done some research on my own, and this case seems to be decent, but I am curious as to what everyone else has to say.
Thanks in advanced.

So if I understand correctly, what you want is for all your media to stay on your local drive, but for there to be a backup copy on the airdisk that updates when you make changes?
If that's correct, the best way I can think of is to just have the airdisk be a time machine backup, exclude everything but your iTunes folder, and that should do it.

OK, am I the only one....
Someone from Bioware said that they are pulling in a HUGE amount of data from your ME2 save if you import. Granted, much of this might be trivial stuff that has no REAL importance on the game. But either way, you will be able to import your person just fine, and I'm sure major plot decisions from ME2 will have consequences in ME3.

I was using the basic notes that came with my iphone and found I really liked having a list on my phone and leaving all the pieces of paper at home. Then, I came to want the ability to make groups or project lists, and notes is just one long continuous list. Now, I've come to want a reminder that a task needs to happen and be reminded. So I started searching for apps and am overwhelmed at reading about them. I've looked in the app store but the descriptions are often general or vague or feel like over marketing. I searched for reviews and found a lot of information and am now wondering if anyone knows of a comparison so I can tell how they compare.
I like being able to create groups, be able to repeat tasks/items, show them complete, have an alert or alarm, be notified, having it talk to my google calendar would be nice too.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Funny in the beginning but it got old. With advertising you don't want to keep replaying the same old same old. People start tuning out.
They were good, but it was time to discontinue them.

Anyone here going to grab a sealed ipad 16gb model to keep as a collectors item? 10-20 years from now, I have no doubts it will be worth much more then its current asking price.

Is it worth it to purchase? I would probably use the cradle for times even when I don't use TomTom to stream music in my car and to listen to baseball games.
Just curious if it is worth the money, or if I should go for a cheaper alternative.
btw, this is for the iPhone 4 on Verizon.
Thanks.
