Thanks. What would I do next within Disk Utility?
With all respect...if you are having to ask what to do with a DMG, do you really think you should be installing OSX server?

I can't believe I did this......showed up at 2:30am and waited with folks already there since 12. First guy was there at 12, and ended up not being able to get one for whatever reason. I was fourth in line tho, and walked out of the store with the first one. Our Att had a similar amount in stock. I'm glad I waited tho. LOL.
Hi Katt505.... couple questions...
- How do you like your new phone?
- Did they have many in stock at the AT&T store on 44?
- Any signs of 3G around here?
I live in Poughkeepsie and am trying to decide if I want to upgrade from the original iPhone to iPhone 3G... One thing I'm finding, and I never thought this would happen, is I need more space (have an 8GB) with all these apps, movies, etc. (had to clear off some music to make room!) Other than that, the only benefit would be GPS I think since 3G is still nonexistent around here.

I plan on getting an Air strictly to make some simple iPhone/iPad Apps with XCode 4 and do light web browsing and email, watch movies. Will probably also want to upgrade to Lion.
I'm looking at an 11" Air with 64 GB and 2 MB RAM.
Am I really 'cutting it close' if I want to use XCode 4 with these lowish specs? (Assume no other major apps running in the background).
Also, in your opinion, should I bother waiting a month or so for the Core I5 refresh?
Anyone know if the Refresh will have an Ethernet port built in?

When you work with wireless networking, interference from ALL kinds of sources becomes a problem.
Last night, I had my MacBook Pro resting on the bed with the Buffalo Wireless-N access point in the nearby closet. My wife was blow-drying her hair and I was trying to connect to my computer in the other room, which is hard-wired.
I couldn't get connected at all. I could ping the computer but even when I attempted to connect over AFP directly to the IP address, it wouldn't connect. Finally, I connected over FTP, but was getting sporadically slow bursts of data, followed by fast bursts of data.
Then my brain started functioning... and I moved the laptop from the top of the bed (near my wife and the blow dryer) to the end of the bed and experienced fast connection speeds again.
Check your environment. Are you near a HVAC unit? A major power line in the wall? Another wireless transmitter?
After that, I might suggest trying the "hack" to put an external WiFi antenna on your Mac Pro.

What is the exact budget you have and the resolution (or display size) you want?
Have you looked into Dell's offers?

I don't see how applying them wet eliminates dust. If there's dust on the screen when you apply a wet shield, the dust is still going to be there once the shield dries. I agree it's easier to move the shield around when it's wet but you do have to be careful that it's not too wet or you could damage your phone.

That's quite a lot of effort to go to but it is at least decently done for a fake I suppose?

Given the current time frame, I would suggest waiting until after the upcoming MacWorld Expo and then make your decision (either on the new products or on the current ones).
Independent of that, I still vote for a portable solution but I've been grounded with desktops for the past ten years so that may be influencing my opinion.

No, you cannot always trust Mac OS X's pronunciations. They are often fairly inaccurate. Then again, the technology hasn't changed terribly much since it was introduced in the Mac OS.

I would create a new account on your computer so that there's a separate iTunes Library for your friend's phone. You don't want to plug the phone into your account with your Library or your iTunes may overwrite your friend's phone.

Are you sure it wont go into DFU mode? Unless you unlocked and messed with the baseland, I doubt its bricked.
no not unlocked its sim free factory.
pretty sure it wont. tried loads of times. cant even get it to switch off. i vaguely remember a program that would force ios into dfu from mac or am i making things up.

A work around you could do is buy a stereo mini to one quarter inch adapter (like this (http://www.headphone.com/accessories/stereo-mini-to-one-quarter-inch-adapter.php) one) and then a quarter to mini that fits (like this (http://www.headphone.com/accessories/grado-quarter-to-eighth-inch-plug-adapter.php)), and that way you can avoid buying new headphones.
But if you prefer new headphones I would recommend a portable pair like Sennheiser PX200-2 (just as a little note, they are a lot better than the first version of the PX200), full size I can't remember now one with a "skinny" connector.
Those are the ones I have, right down to the Grado brand. And they still don't fit

I have to agree in the first few days i had my Mac Mini i was running it with 256mb RAM and the poor thing was a slug (the beautiful OS is completely crippled with 256), it struggled in most basic tasks, like opening preview or playing a AVI while surfing the web....
Boosted it to 512mb and it works soooo much better, i am thinking of swapping that for a gig and this little baby will motor,
Tell your bro to put in another 512mb chip and get 768mb for the iMac...
