I called Apple about the battery and I told them that I had problems with the machine before. They said they would replace it. 2.4Ghz Multitouch hehe.

I'm having a major headache here guys. I'm trying to upgrade a Macbook 1,1 from Tiger to Snow Leopard. I just upgraded the ram so I have all the requirements for SL except for a dvd drive. the Macbook 1,1's super drive is bent or something, it's very difficult to actually get discs in or out of the drive and once they are in they don't even read.
I tried remote install os x, but it didn't show up on the 1,1's boot menu. I'm guessing this utility is only somehow for Macbook airs?
So I tired restoring the SL install DVD I got with my other Macbook (6,1) to a flash drive and it booted, but once I got past the language select I got a message saying that Snow Leopard could not be installed. I don't understand why, my 1,1 has 2 gigs ram, enough hard drive space and an Intel Core Duo.
Why can't I upgrade?

This joke is funny and not over used at all. My favorite part is when you take a shot at the dev team and make your release date a long time away.
Apparently you're one of those guys who believes that the dev team owes you a jailbreak. Honestly if I had one I'd troll all the people like you, who tell the dev team they suck and go ahead and use their jailbreak anyway.
Well said.

If you have the bootcamp utility installed, you should be able to start OS X from there.

here's what i have. everything was cheap but also good for a beginner setup. and i did a lot of research before i purchased everything, and i couldnt be happier.
- M-Audio Axiom 25 - The Axiom is very nice and has more features than the Oxygen, you can find one for a good price used on ebay.
- M-Audio Fast Track USB II Audio Interface - get one on amazon, you will need an interface eventually
- Sennheiser HD280 Pro Headphones - you will need them for mixing accurately. get them on amazon, you will not find a better pair of studio headphones for this price.
- Klipsch Promedia 2.1 Computer Speakers - THX certified...decent quality, good to check your mixes on, and good to listen to house or any music on. They have good bass and get very loud. All for a great price. I personally make dubstep so i need the bass.
- Your DAW of choice, mines Reason 5.

When I initially installed Lion I was very impressed by the new features. Now, and after I have been using it for a week now, I not that impressed anymore. I think there is room for improvements:
* Launchpad: The idea is good but the implementation could be much better. You should make launchpad behave like a computer application and not like an iPad one! Right click should offer context menu to create new folders, rename and delete folders. Right clicking on an app should offer options to move it to an existing folder, or create a new one. Launchpad should also have the option not to run in full screen mode! In its current incarnation I am not going to be using it. I still prefer Spotlight for running apps. For organizing them I still prefer the apps folder on the dock.
* Full screen mode: A good idea that works very well if you have small screens or/and resolution. On my ACD I have so much space that for most apps, full screen mode is an overkill. I don't see me using it a lot. Maybe when Aperture gets it I will use it.
* Mission Control: This one I like. It combines spaces and expose very nice.
* Mail.app: The new layout is nice but I would like to see some new features regarding Exchange Server. More compatibility to Exchange would be nice. Support for Out of Office messages, categories and Exchange tasks are essential.
* Saving the state of apps: It does take a while to get used to the fact that the state of all apps is always being saved on exit. I would prefer to have the option (without using the Alt key) to not save the state of an app by default. There are situations you don't want to have an app resume its state. Imagine showing a video to someone. You close quicktime and then after a while you need quicktime again. You open it and the video resumes...Not very good!
* Finder: I prefer to have the devices on top on the left side of Finder and not on the bottom. There should be an option to change that.

Photoshop on its own will not OCR text. Really, what you're trying to do could skip the imaging stage until the end when you're batch-processing the image files to be psds or whatever.
Assuming that Photoshop's batch processing tools under File>Automate>Batch will not produce the filenames you need, I'd look at it first of all as a workflow that first needs to parse a text file and produce blank image files in those names, even PDFs could work, the size and format is irrelevant.
Once that's done, it's a simple matter of setting up a Photoshop action to format those images to the correct dimensions, colour spaces, layers etc and then batch processing all those files into another folder.

Try going into parallels settings and increasing the ram allocated to the virtual machine to at least 3gigs. That is what I had to do. Hope that helps. :)

For what it's worth, I'll just throw in here that I too am waiting for a PM revision. (And have been, since the initial introduction, and then much more expectantly since MWSF).
*runs around room screaming in frustration, leaving trail of hair behind*
Macrumors is a cool site and the forums have a lot of cool people, but I think getting involved in the rumor mill has caused some serious stress...
Yeah, you're not the only one who's been stressing. It's especially not good when you tell PC people that you live with "I'm gonna get a dual G5 real soon and it's gonna be BADA**"...maybe with different words but to that degree, and the powermac doesn't even come out. I'm getting quite frustrated. I just ignore "Magic Tuesdays" anymore.

i've got one for you, but mine is version '9.0.4' instead of '9.2.2' like the link above. also have the matching 'Software Restore' disc, and an 'iMac Applications' disc also stamped but looks to be later as it's a lighter shade of gray. i know that i used the disc to install 9.0.4 on a b&w g3, so this should work for you.
i've no use for them, if you want them, pm you mailing address and i'll slap a couple stamps on them and send them on. best of luck with the restore project.
Those should suit the OP fine, since 9.1, 9.2, 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 are all free downloads from Apple (And the 9.0.4 Disc would also probably work to some degree on early Slot-Loading iMacs (Up to and including Summer 2000) as well should the OP happen across any of those). The iMac Applications disc will be for 9.2.2 and X, however may work (It should have iMovie 2 for OS 9 on it if its the same disc I have - mine is from a G4/700 15" iMac, dated 2002 with iLife 3 for X and iMovie 2 for OS 9 on it), but it probably shipped with a G4 iMac, and if it has iDVD on it, that wont work (as well as all the X-Gubbins on those discs).

Hmm. Could be interesting. There are a lot of crap games on PSN though, so you never know how good your options will be every month. Really, I don't think I have bought 12 PSN games since launch...

Apple is not falling behind!
Okay so there chip technology is a little below the bar of the other generic drones.
But everything else there doing is way ahead of everyone else.

It's obviously only been a short time but I do think 4.3.3 battery life is better. Otherwise, no change, no problems (and no location tracking I guess).

Also, this page seems to have a good list of subcategories.
http://versiontracker.com/macosx/updByCat.php
I also'd like to see a "Freeware", "Commercial", "Shareware" category.
So, a single software app, like iTunes, could say:
[[Category: Apple Software]]
[[Category: Audio]]
[[Category: Freeware]]
and Photoshop:
[[Category: Graphics]]
[[Category: Commercial Software]]
(I think the "Third Party" categories are unnecessary. They don't add value to someone searching for information, unless someone's coming along looking for something specifically non-Apple)
