[QUOTE=thermodynamic;12493443I recently bought Drive Genius 3 ... has anybody tried the defragment utility? If so, is it worth the time to use?
[/QUOTE]
If the time it is defragging is when you're asleep, then you won't notice how long it takes. Apple says there's no need to defrag, but I do it, and it makes a difference at least in the number of fragments, if not performance.

Why are they using the American spelling of 'centre' when it's a .uk address?

Looks like a good start! I like the nice colors.
Not that it would make a huge difference, but you could reduce the height of contbg.jpg to 1px instead of 5px. It would reduce file size a tiny bit.
It's definitely not necessary, but it woudn't hurt either:D
I saw that file, but can't see it in the final document.
Are the drop shadows elements of a CSS style, or of an image?
Sorry, I am absolutely clueless (but eagerly learning) this stuff.

I honestly think it is 8 per bus. On my 7100, i connected 5 devices and all of them were working.
Do you have the Mach 5 cpu (the 300mhz one)?
na it is the 250mhz one
The external and one of the internals are really the same bus, so you have the 8 device limit (taking into account that the SCSI controller itself counts as one.)
Also note that some versions of the Mac OS slap all busses together, making it limit artificially to only 8 devices, even though you should be able to 'double up'. I believe 8.0 and higher remove this.
does that mean as i use 9.0 i can have 7 devices per port on the logicboard?

OK, first things first - the marquee tag is deprecated so there's no guarantee that it will work as expected in future (though it's likely to for backwards compatibility reasons). Is there any other way that you might present this info - an RSS feed perhaps?
By default the marquee takes 100% of the width of the container so in your CSS for the tag put something like:
#myMarquee{

Ive installed Linux (Suse, RedHat, Debian) and BSD on VPC. It is (in theory) a virtual PC so anything that would be able to beinstalled on a PC could be installed on VPC. There are a few issues with some OS's but all in all its pretty decent.

Because Apple do not duplicate the documentation from superclasses in subclasses. The objectForKey: method (not function) is defined in NSDictionary which is NSMutableDictionaries superclass. So any NSDictionary method can be called on a NSMutableDictionary.
Ooh that's good. My bad. Thanks for the clarification! :)

I can not say that I am surprised by that. I know I have had linksys routers just crap out on me before. Hell I have 2 crap out on me before and the single strength for them just went into the crapper. One I flashed it and boosted the single 100% and it worked better but still it was on the low side.
But between 7 or 8 of them I have had 2 just randomly crap out.
Something you could try is change the channel it is running on. I have had issues with wireless were there was just to much noise in on that channel so the signal was poor. Changed it and went from eh to max bars. Signal strength is based on the signal to noise ratio.

Hi, I've installed the Lion Developers Preview, all legit. It's working great and everything. But what happens when the grand master comes out? Can I install it over my existing Lion partition or do I have to delete both my Snow Leopard partition and my Lion preview one and do a clean install?
Cheers :) x
You will need to do a clean install. No upgrades from Lion DP2 to the final release.

I just did some limited file movement to confirm it would still recognize the drive without formatting it for the enclosure. I think it is safe to say that it would run slow as molasses over USB versus internal.
I'm curious to see how a TB external with non-ssd drives connected to a MBP run versus internal drives on a MP...got my fingers crossed and hope the drives are the limiting factor.

I love Xcode 4, but one MAJOR pain I hate about Xcode itself is updating it. Apple, please use a patcher to update Xcode.
Having to download a 4GB + file every time a new version of Xcode is release is getting old, and ridiculous.
Not to mention, 4GB's in one download may look suspicious to my ISP.
I won't update my Xocde until this issue is resolved.
Thanks.
I just submitted this to Apple, hopefully Apple will listen. (removing if any, confidential info) I'll post back any replies.

You know that 800k floppy drive with an Apple II?
How do I even use it?
My Apple IIGS boots/reads disks off the 5.25 drive.
How do I read floppies in the 800k?

Just use iPhoto
Okay....I am new to Mac... so just import through iPhoto? Is this the easiest way? I'd like to be able to just stick the pictures in my Pictures folder.

the new spymac is great, especially the spydisk. 100 MB of online disk space that mounts on the OS X desktop.
Where else would it mount?
So anyone know if I can buy an iWalk in the new auction area or maybe my email off a spam list?

ZilogZ,
Thanks for the insight. You are right, I am unable to see even the textbox, let alone scripts that run under them. I guess I will have to live with not being able to run the app on the Ipad.

I have a new 2010 Mac Mini that I am using to stream NETFLIX. I am in Navy and stationed in Japan and I use Hotspot Shield to get a USA IP address. My mac mini stopped working and I an error code saying I am out of area. On my 2009 Macbook Pro it is still working....
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Where is the error message coming from?
Netflix?
Safari?
The Hotspot Shield?
We can help you more if you give this info.

i want to get a external HD to work with my 27" imac that i purchased last summer.
should i get one with Thunderbolt technology?
Also, would i hook this external up through my router or directly to the imac
neither of which have the thunderbolt connection port....
so, i'm wondering if there's any advantage getting one with TB
thanks for your thoughts
First of all, as far as I know no thunderbolt accessories are actually for sale yet. Maybe in a month or two.
I don't know of any router that has thunderbolt yet either.
Only advantage of getting a thunderbolt drive would be future compatiblity. (As long as it has multiple outputs in addition to thunderbolt, like USB/FireWire.). Thunderbolt items initially might cost too much to be worth it, at least until the price goes down.
If you want the fastest for your current mac, FireWire 800 is the way to go for your current system. USB only devices are slower, but usually cost less.

Those type of settings are typically part of a printer driver. I am assuming your home printer and school printer are different, that could be your problem.
As a start, what printer is at home, and what is at school (ie if you have an HP printer at home, missing the Epson page setup is unsurprising).
