Hi there,
I just got myself a macbook pro as everybody told me how great it is compare to PC....
I'm used to to Foobar on PC as a music library and cant find a player which does what I want on mac.
I've seen Songbird, itunes, vlc and others but here's what I'd like to get on a player :
- be able to delete the song (on the hardrive) strait from the library
- using the rating used in foobar, songbird (an extra tag is added on the file, not like Itunes which save the rating on a external database)
- as light as possible (no need of internet, lyrics, pictures of the album or videos player)
- be able to take care of more than 150Go of musik
- make me smile and make the sun out tomorrow :)
Well, if anyone knows something which could work, you'll make me happy :D
Cheers

You can delete the file in terminal.
Close the finder window containing the pdf file so it doesn't affect you again.
In spotlight, type terminal
In terminal, type
cd
you will now be in your home directory, now type
cd Documents
if you know the name of the file, and it's in Documents, you can delete it...
rm badfile.pdf
It should now be gone.
If you forgot the name of the file, type
ls *.pdf
you now have a list of all the pdf files in your Documents folder. You can now type
rm (copy and paste the name of the bad file from the listing you got from ls)
It should now be gone.
Of course the same procedure is true if the file is somewhere else such as downloads, you would type cd Downloads above instead of cd Documents.
Hope this helps...

We can edit them once they are approved, so yes we can add comments after the fact. This is not encouraged though, as it can be a bit of work if the song was submitted some time ago. The way the database works is by the most recent submission, so if your song was submitted 2 weeks ago it'll take a while to find it. ;)

I am starting a project for my freshmen english class and i thought that this would be a good subject to do it on. I need comparisons basically on the OS and anything that is good and bad about both sides.
Links would be very nice. adn teh longer the article the better.

I just picked up a DLO HomeDock HD @ Amazon. Retail is $299 but on sale for $34. The dock has on-board software and provides a "media center" like interface. It has its quirks but I like it...especially for the price.
The dock requires that it be connected to a TV. But if you're looking for something that integrates the iPod into a living room entertainment system, this thing is pretty cool.

Ever since I installed USB Overdrive on my imac last night, my mouse has been clicking randomly whenever I move it. This is making it a REAL pain to do ANYTHING, especially considering that I'm a graphic designer and need a STABLE mouse. This thing just clicks, the scroll button clicks, and the right button clicks... whenever I'm moving it. It's incredibly frustrating and I don't know how to change it. I'm scared to move the mouse over ANY files because it will just drag things randomly or open things that I didn't want it to open. Seriously annoying!
I've uninstalled USB Overdrive - that didn't help. Switching to another USB drive didn't help. And I'm worried that buying a new mouse won't fix it. What do I do? I don't want to have to back up my entire computer and reset it just to fix the damn problem.
I have a 24 inch imac with Intel and the standard wired mouse that comes with it.

I have 16Gb iPhone up for sale. It is currently jailbroken and can be unlocked to use on another carrier. The phone is in excellent condition and is less than 3 months old. It is under Applecare until March 20, 2009. I have the original box and accessories for it. I am asking $530 or best offer (which is what I paid.) If you have any questions feel free to ask!

If iTunes doesn't have what you need I would check out Amazon. Or maybe even that Zune pass thing but that is subscription.

Acouple days ago, I was running a PC. My mother wanted XP off so I uninstaled it. Well, being the Geinus that Bill Gates is, My version of XP did not backup 98. So, I convinced my mom to buy a mac. I've had no problems with it so far, and I hope I don't in the future. Thank-you apple!

Hi -
I posted this about a month ago in the iMac forum and it hasn't been resolved. Someone suggested I move it over to this forum - so here goes.
My right shift key, arrow up key, and the 4, 5, and 6 keys on the number pad are all not working. Nothing has spilled.
I've plugged in a different keyboard - same problem. Zapped pram - problem remains. Trashed prefs, restarted, repaired disk permissions, mouse keys off, checked international settings, speech setting off - everything I could find online - nothing has worked. The keyboard viewer is showing that the keys are not being seen.
Two things have changed since I originally posted this in the iMac forum. I upgraded from 10.4 to 10.6 (finally), but the problem remains.
I've also tried out my wireless keyboard that I use with my laptop. Strangely - the wireless works fine.
Anybody have any thoughts? Why would TWO usb connected keyboards have the exact same issues, and the wireless work fine?
I'm fine with just buying a new keyboard - but I'm concerned that the same problem will happen with a new one.
Any thoughts are welcome.
Thank you!

The obvious upgrades would be HD iSight camera and 2 thunderbolt ports (so you can daisy chain the display). However, I wouldn't be surprised if Apple incorporates some sort of hard drive or ssd storage into the cinema display. Since Thunderbolt can transmit both data and audio/video, it would be awesome if the display can also act as an external hard drive.

I DL'd "iPhone3,1_4.3.2_8H7.bundle" and put it in the Contents/Resources/FirmwareBundles/ directory in the Pwnage Tool package.
I DL'd the file "iPod3,1_4.3.2_8H7_Restore.ipsw" and placed on my desktop, but Pwnage Tool keeps giving the "Wrong firmware bundle selected" error.
The problem is bolded above.

Boy that sure sounds like the kind of tool a spammer would like!
We get a lot of spam here that follows a particular kind of model. A wee bit of text that seems related enough to the thread at hand to now immediately raise suspicion, but doesn't quite connect to the thread and has a completely unrelated link in the post's signature.

recently, I've noticed that my 2009 MacBook draws a lot of battery power when it's in standby mode (sleeping with the lid open). I know that they are supposed to sleep for a long time, but when I leave the lid open and it falls asleep, the computer draws battery power even faster than if the computer was being used. Does anyone know what may cause this rapid battery drain?
Thanks

How many licenses does that include? More than one, I am assuming.
No. It is not the "Home and Student Edition," but the full-blown Office 2008 edition including support for Exchange Server and Automator workflows.
Only one license. The Home and Student Edition still has three licenses as a part of the package, but it's more expensive and does not have the support for Exchange server and Automator workflows.
Of course, you have to be an educator or student to qualify for Home and Student, I believe:

This is a perfectly good place to ask that question.
That's because I reported it to the Moderators asking for it to be moved here :p

Ah, I misunderstood.
Btw:
There are currently no viruses for Mac OS X in public circulation, only a handful of trojans and other malware, which have to be installed manually via entering the administrator password.
The only anti-virus you need to protect your Mac is education and common sense.
